Jesus said “Ye must be born again,” and the Apostle Paul said, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” 3 questions: 1) Do you believe in God? 2) Do you believe that the Bible is God’s Word? 3) If the Bible says something that contradicts your lifestyle or opinion, who wins? So many believe that God isn’t real, Jesus isn’t real, heaven and hell isn’t real. But if you don’t remember anything else from these next few minutes, remember this. Eternity is too long to be wrong.

I was going to a weekly Bible study when I was stationed in Germany and one night the teacher told the story. He said a guy asked him, “What if you die and find out there is no heaven?” The teacher answered, “Well, I have lived the life I have wanted to live. I have experienced what has eluded most people, especially those who don’t believe: salvation, real love, real joy, real peace, real forgiveness.

But to answer your question. If heaven is not real, no one would ever know because death would be the end. The end of life and the end of consciousness, everything would just fade to black.

Now, let me ask you a question. What happens when you die and find out that heaven is real, and that everything in the Bible is true? That heaven is for all who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. And that hell will be the eternal home for all like you who didn’t believe. Can you answer that question? Eternity is too long to be wrong.

King Solomon, who God said was the wisest man in the world, said the one thing everyone has in common, doesn’t matter if you are rich, poor, smart, dumb. The one common experience we all will share is death. We all die and will stand before God and give account for our lives.

And life is full of decisions, both good and bad. In fact, you have made so many bad decisions and most of them have had no lasting effects. They are all but forgotten. The colors you choose for your bathroom, your job, where you went for vacation, etc. But the single most important decision you will make in your life is what you do with Jesus Christ. This is the one decision you better get right because: Eternity is too long to be wrong.

While you are busy building and accumulating treasures here on earth, things you can’t take with you and your children probably don’t even want. Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21 “¹⁹Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: ²⁰But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: ²¹For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Jesus said in Luke in 12:16-21 “The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

¹⁸And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

²⁰But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? ²¹So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Eternity is too long to be wrong.

This man had a plan to make his soul happy but that night he discovered his soul would be spending eternity in hell.

Now we all took tests in high school: What if you had to take a test and it was pass/fail. There was only one question, there were only two possible answers, and the teacher told you the correct answer? Do you think you would pass that test?

God said in Deuteronomy 30:19-20 “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: ²⁰That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days.”

Eternity is too long to be wrong

Romans 5:20-21 But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: ²¹That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

The “Grace” is God giving the correct answer because He loves you, He wants you to make it to heaven: Eternity is too long to be wrong.

What is “Born again.” Believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That He died for our sins and was resurrected three days later. It means accepting Him, not only as your savior but as Lord of your life and living that life in pursuit of Him.

Romans 10:9-10 says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ¹⁰For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

There is no period after death. There may be a comma, but not a period. Death is not the end; death it is a transition. Hebrews 9:27 says “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

So, here is the test. Remember, God has already given the correct answer. All you have to do is choose it. Life, or death. Heaven, or hell. The blessing of eternity life or the curse of eternal separation from God. God said, “Choose life.” Because Eternity is too long to be wrong.

When we labor without the Master Architect, even the strongest walls crumble.

Times are just different… this is not the America we used to know.

The America we grew up in looks very different now. But change is nothing new – the Bible shows us that times have always been changing. As we get closer to the end times, more changes will come.

Finding Joy in Our Faith

Sometimes people use words to make fun of Christians. Back in Paul’s time, even the word “Christian” was meant to mock believers. Today, some folks call Christians “holy rollers” as a put-down.

But here’s the good news – we can embrace these labels with joy! If being a “holy roller” means we’re filled with God’s Spirit, then that’s exactly what we want to be. We’re happy to be known as people who are close to God.

The world may change, but we don’t need to be afraid. Our faith gives us strength for whatever comes next. When we stay focused on God’s presence, those words meant to hurt us become badges of honor instead.

The Word and the Call to Proclaim It

In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was made flesh and brought among us.

The Bible tells us something amazing – Jesus is God’s Word made into a person. He came to live with us, full of grace and truth. This simple truth changes everything about how we share our faith.
